Bibb United Education Vision

At Bibb United, our core mission is to inspire informed and engaged citizenship in Bibb County. That mission begins with education. A truly free and thriving community requires a school system that equips every child, not just with facts, but with the critical skills and confidence to navigate life and participate meaningfully in it. Liberty depends on informed decision-making, and that begins in our classrooms.
That’s why we’re committed to building a public education system so effective, transparent, and empowering that every family chooses it—not by mandate, but by merit.
1. Empower Parents Through District‑Wide Support
- One‑stop parent liaison service: A central support office to guide new and existing families through registration, open‑enrollment, magnet programs, deadlines, school choice options, and special services, solving the “pass‑the‑buck” frustration that drove many families to leave the district.
- Parent advocacy role: This service will assist parents in navigating processes, obtaining clear and timely answers, and escalating concerns, so no one misses deadlines due to poor communication.
2. Restore School & Teacher Autonomy
- Decentralize district oversight: Reduce micromanagement so principals and educators can innovate, tailor instruction to their students, and act efficiently, with clear accountability and strong leadership.
- Streamline bureaucracy: Review and reduce central office staff (currently disproportionately large compared to other districts) and redirect savings into classrooms, teacher development, and student services.
3. Radical Transparency & Trust
Transparency is more than publishing spreadsheets, it’s about building a culture of honest communication and mutual accountability between the district, schools, educators, parents, and the public.
- Proactive data sharing: Publish key metrics and records (financial transactions, staffing data, incident reports, program enrollment, etc.) in a user-friendly public dashboard. Parents and taxpayers shouldn’t have to file lawsuits or navigate bureaucratic red tape to access information they have a legal right to.
- Monthly “State of the Schools” updates: Host regular community forums and Q&A sessions where leadership reports progress, answers questions, and listens to concerns, with clear follow-up and public documentation.
- Independent Advisory Council: Many teachers privately voice the same concerns, frustrations that never seem to reach the boardroom. Bibb United proposes the formation of an independent, district-recognized advisory council that can communicate directly with school and district leadership, as well as make reports to the Board of Education. This body would:
- Be elected by teachers, for teachers—not appointed by district administration.
- Staffed by volunteers who are not employed by the district to protect independence and teacher confidence.
- Bound by confidentially rules and regulations to ensure compliance with laws such as FERPA.
- Serve as a trusted conduit for recurring issues, safety concerns, innovation ideas, and resource needs.
- Protect anonymity when needed, allowing teachers to share openly without fear of retaliation.
- Help district leaders ground policy in classroom reality, not filtered reports.
By elevating educator voices and unlocking public access to information, we can rebuild trust, correct course faster, and work collaboratively toward the best outcomes for our students.
4. Volunteer Engagement & Professional Service
- Fast-track and simplify the process: Allow volunteers to begin the process before the school year starts, ensuring they can support classrooms and events from day one, not weeks later.
- Professional volunteers welcome: Expand the vision of volunteering beyond the classroom, carpool lanes, lunchrooms, and field trips. We will actively invite and facilitate community members with professional expertise to contribute in meaningful, high-impact ways. Rather than seeing the district as a lucrative opportunity, lets look at our District as an avenue for investment. For example:
- Photographers and videographers to capture and showcase school events and student achievement.
- Painters and Artists to make school environments inviting and uplifting.
- IT professionals to assist with big infrastructure projects.
- Highly Skilled Tradespeople: carpenters, painters, electricians, landscapers to support campus improvement efforts where budgets fall short.
This is community ownership in action. Bibb United will work to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and establish clear, efficient pathways for citizens to give back using their real-world skills.
5. Celebrate What Works
- Low tax burden: Bibb County boasts the lowest educational property tax rates in the region, while still maintaining school choice and essential services.
- Efficient use of funds: Despite lower tax revenue, Bibb allocates 68% of funds directly to instruction or pupil services, above the national average.
- Existing school choice: Magnet programs and intra-district transfers already exist; Bibb United will improve access and clarity so every family can navigate their options.
- Dedicated workforce: The district is home to many passionate, highly capable educators and staff. We aim to lift them up, removing red tape and giving them the autonomy they need to do their best work.

✅ Our Commitment
Bibb United will champion public education by:
🎯 Prioritizing Efficiency — Redirecting resources from central overhead to classrooms and parent support.
🧩 Maximizing Choice — Strengthening and simplifying intra-district options already available.
🤝 Boosting Engagement — Empowering volunteers, removing barriers, and amplifying parent participation.
🏆 Elevating Quality — Trusting and resourcing educators to create schools where students thrive.
Why?
We believe liberty means more than just freedom from oppression, it’s also the freedom to thrive. The best way to preserve that freedom for our children is through exceptional public schools that are open to all, responsive to families, and accountable to the community.
Our vision: Bibb County public schools so strong, welcoming, and effective that every family, regardless of income or neighborhood, proudly chooses them.
